“Anything worth having is worth working hard to get.”

I was out working in the garden today. As you have heard me say many times before, “That’s why they call it Stone County. Because in order to dig a one-foot hole to plant a small bush requires a shovel, a pickaxe, a stick of dynamite, backhoe, bulldozer, and the patience of Mother Theresa.

That is why everything is planted in a raised bed down here. Which means the soil has to be turned and renewed every year. Always via shovel and man power. It’s a heck of a lot of work, but well worth the effort when I bite into that first ripe, red and very juicy tomato.

But just like my parents used to tell us. “Anything worth having is worth working hard to get.”
