Just a little rhyme I wrote last week when we received 12 inches of snow the day after it was 71 degrees. Talk about dashed hopes. At least it looks like we are headed back into a warming trend for the next two weeks.

sunshine and no wind—a welcome reprieve while watching winter melt away

childhood winter lost to december heat wave—hard to deny climate changes
#81
nighttime brings more snow so dig out those woolen blankets—winter’s not done
#82
snowflakes dance and swirl in the streetlight’s glow—a winter rehearsal
#83
fluffy snowflakes create a peaceful winter scene but chaos on the roads
#84
streets covered with ice and branches droop with their burden—warm by my fireplace
#85
cold, wet and nasty is all i have to say—winter’s here again
#86
twelve inches of snow makes travel impossible—sled ruts on the hill
On dreary winter days when angels weep
I pull a memory from those I keep
and dream of dancing in the summer’s sun
As winter’s cold devours each brown blade
her blanket of snow covers hill and glade
I dream of dancing in the summer’s sun
When leafless limbs get whipped and tossed
I look through my window burdened with frost
and dream of dancing in the summer’s sun
When frigid winter’s winds roar
out among the lifeless trees
and nature is held captive
inside a merciless freeze
I pray to the God above
I hope he’ll honor my plea
to keep you safe from all harm
and bring you back home to me

The north wind freezes fields and rivers
Drifts across roads to seal the town
Skin cracks inside ice covered gloves
Vick’s rubbed onto croupy chests
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day
Fireplace surrounded by, family, lovers and friends
Ice skating, snowball fights, sleigh rides
Hot chocolate, red noses and hugs

Life is a story, waiting to be told
Daydreaming and then, maybe, writing a poem about it. And that's my life.
