Magical Moments

“Your Life will be Filled with Magical Moments”

Now what more can be said except that anything is possible at any given moment. Probably the greatest example of something from nothing comes from the songwriters Galt Mac Dermot, Gerome Ragni and James Rado.

“Gliddy glup gloopy nibby nabby noopy la la la lo lo”

“Sabba sibby sabba nooby abba nabba le le lo lo”

“Tooby ooby walla nooby abba nabba”

“Early morning sing a song”

Yes, ‘Good Morning Starshine’ that light hearted pop song featured in ‘Hair’ (1967) rose to #3 on the US charts in July of 1969 and hit #6 in the United Kingdom in October. Over the decades, it has been covered by 16 different bands, performed live by top artist like Diana Ross and the Supremes, and featured in countless television shows, commercial ads and movies.

Proving that, with the right magical timing, even gibberish can leave the world ‘Feeling Groovy’ man.

So no matter how dumb people may think your dreams are…you should never give up on them. It could be that just the timing is wrong.

I Should Be Fishing

All my bosses up above me

Are always pushing and trying to shove me

Into doing twice the work

For half the pay

And when 5 o’clock finally comes

I think my working day is done

They say I have to work

3 more hours today

Because Joe Blow didn’t show

And I guess I’m the only other one who knows

How to push a button

To start this damn machine

So while the sweat pours down my back

My ten bosses stand around and eat their snack

And talk about how

We all need to work as a team

But when it comes time to talk about a raise

“Well boy, you can be replaced any day

By a one eyed squirrel

Or a half dead baboon”

Depths of Winter

“When in the depths of winter, remember that Spring is not far away.”

So no matter how down and alone you are feeling right now, know that it will pass. Each of us will walk through the depths of our winter at some time in our lives. We may feel isolated and frozen , with no end in sight. But have faith my dear friends. Reach out your hand to a friend, your family or your God. Believe it or not, there is always someone to share your burden. No journey in life that has to be made alone. No matter where you find yourself, I hope that the sun brightens your skies.

Date Night

It was date night with my best friend last night. We had some wonderful Chinese food and a lot of great conversations at Deb’s favorite restaurant, Jade Garden. Deb’s fortune read…Good friends will make your life better. Ain’t that the truth. No matter if they are next door or thousands of miles away.
Now all that know me can tell you that I can put up a pretty good show when I’m in a crowd. But I am, by nature, a reclusive person. I do not show my emotions well. So I know that I must strive to be a better friend, father, brother to all the wonderful people that make up my universe.

Life Moves On

When he was ten, he bought cigarettes from the small grocery store in his tiny town. He used the coins that he’d collected from selling life’s discarded remnants. A pop bottle here and a beer bottle there…two cents a bottle. Fourteen bottles bought a pack. With so many of his family crowded around, they would assume it was for one off his older brothers or sisters.
When he was twelve, he began to drink quite a bit. It was easy to sneak out a few beers or some whisky from the pile. After a full night of drinking they never missed it…if they even remembered they had it to begin with,
When he was 16, he disappeared. They were so tired of each other by then that they never realized he had been misplaced. No one cried for him. He could only imagine that one day they looked up and said, “I wonder where Jerry is?”
“Oh, I’m sure he’s around somewhere,” came a reply from the person that had replaced him .
And their life kept moving along.
