A Vote for Nixon

The politicians danced around town

Telling all the people what they wanted to hear

Their promises came wrapped in the fine clothes of prosperity

Our town would ‘reap great rewards

Absolutely no one will be left out’ they shouted

They filled the air with hopes and dreams

All the men heard the news at town hall meetings

And gatherings around their watering holes

They carried it home to their wives

Those were happy days

Anticipating all the good things to come

The politicians came and went…

Their promises came and went…

Their prosperity never came at all.

Recluse

He locked his doors to keep people away

He locked his heart to keep from knowing the pain of love

He locked his mind to forget that he once had a choice

Because all choice has long ago abandoned him

Now he is a prisoner to his seclusion

Where did You Go?

Oh sweet poem

In my dreams

How all the world did love you

They knew your wisdom

They saw your beauty

They felt your inspiration

They sang songs from your rhythms

When they spoke of greatness they shouted your name

And they smiled…for you brought them such peace and joy

But I awoke to find you had abandoned me

Left me alone to stare into the abyss

Of another hollow page

Cycle of Life

At 9 I longed to be 16

At 16 I screamed to be 18

At 18 I begged to be 21

At 21 I thought surely life will be great at 30

At 30 I wished again to be 21

At 40 I begged for 18

At 50, I acted like 16

At 60 I dream of being 9

When I am 70,

Will I wish I had never been born?

Let Me Bring You Love

Let me bring you love from a meadow’s velvet floor; where the grass ripples from a summer’s breath and the bright flowers of purple and gold dance on its gentle wave. Their perfume glides through your childhood memories and heals your wounds.

Let me bring you love from a winter’s night; where the pale moon hangs suspended in a frosted glass sky and the twitching skeletons of lifeless Maples cast bewitching images onto the frozen white canvas.

Let me bring you love from a low fire at midnight; with you safely tucked beneath my blanket and the soft light of the last dying embers dancing smoothly in your eyes, removing all resistance.

Let me bring you love from my last heartbeat…my last breath…my last kiss.

Let me bring you love until my last heartbeat…my last breath…my last kiss.
