I can see it in your face;
How proud you are that you stood for freedom
I can see it in your tears;
As you watch the world call us the enemy
I can see it tear at your heart;
When selfish people refuse to stand
I can see how your stomach churns;
Every time the flag is burned
I can see it eating away at your emotions;
When black hates white or white hates black
I can see your anger rise;
When the world spits on America
I can see your blood boil
When we cower in the corner too afraid to offend
I can see it in your hatred;
When you load the gun
I can see it in your smile;
After you have talked to God
Your poem, Jerry, is an impressive shout against the current state of matters when hard-won pride can be treated so disdainfully by others.

Thanks Roland. But there are so many things that we must just let go so we can focus our attention on those that really matter.

The way you develop the thoughts here is impressive. You’ve created a powerful movement from understandable pride in honourable service to the chilling last four lines. Who will be at the wrong end of that gun, I wonder?

Whichever direction the gun would be pointed would certainly be tragic. There is always a better answer to be found when we realize that we are not alone. Thank you for reading my friend and thank you for your kind words.
