36 years have gone by way to fast
I built relationships I thought would last
It’s retirement day and I finally understand
I mean no more to them than the corner trash can

Life is a patchwork of moments — laughter, solitude, everyday joys, and quiet aches. Through scribbled stories, I explore travels both far and inward, from sunrise over unfamiliar streets to the comfort of home. This is life as I see it, captured in ink and memory. Stick around; let's wander together.
Almost Meaningful
So very true, I have been through that stage in my life, just to have it handed down to someone I train to do the job, Very heart breaking.

Agreed. I will live my life as I see fit…if my wife says it’s okay.

Sometimes, I wonder how she has put up with me for so long.

ah then maybe you could do a guest interview with her .. or let her tell us in her own words in a post on your blog lol :)

I will attempt to do just that. Though she seldom reveals herself to the world. She does not share my egotistical tendencies. There is a rare comment from her on my post ‘Yesterday’s Love’

The people I worked with are good fellows, but the people I worked for saw no use in me because it meant I no longer made them money.

I offer you congrats on your retirement. It sounds like retiring was not your idea but thrust upon you. I have no great advice except – keep active, not busy, and use the time to explore areas that have always interested you. Start your own business, write a novel, volunteer to help others in need. Kiss your wife more.
Enjoy yourself. That job was what you did, it was not who you are.
Go for it.

Oh Jerry, that’s sad. You help me to understand how privileged I was in my colleagues, who gave me a wonderful send off when I retired.

Yeah, it can feel that way, can’t it? But sometimes I think that’s just part of the leaving process. Hope so, anyway.

Yep, there is a lot of truth to what you say. I’m retired as well and loving every minute of it.

I am retired from one job but still working another. Waiting patiently for my wife to call it quits.
